The XIth Region, also called "Aysen Region" is one of most exotic of the south of Chile. This land, transition between the Chilean forest and the Patagonia, is characterized by beautiful hills, forests, rivers and lakes.

Perhaps the ventisqueros are some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country, some pendants like the Queulat, whereas others as San Rafael gives a wonder spectacle. Floating ice mountains on the lake of the same name, bring to the mind of the visitor all type of deams and fantasies.

Coyhaique, the regional capital, is a beautiful city located next to the McKay hill, beautiful rivers and valleys. Within the city all type of services for the visitor can be obtained, in addition to rich typical meals and crafts of the zone.

Other wonderful places are General Carrera and Blanco lakes, the rivers Simpson and Baker, and of course, Chile Chico (Small Chile), a small city with an enviable microclimate.

The Austral Highway cross this small town, that has a beautiful entrance of sea and spectacular thermal baths, near the hanging ventisqueros of the Queulat.

In the city of Coyhaique  
a stroll near the Indian Stone is one of so many possibilities. 

 


Floating ice
An enormous  iceberg floats freely in the lake San Rafael, it seems to be a tunnel to the crystalline.


White mountains
Giant pieces of ice go and come after coming off the colossal ventisquero San Rafael.
