The Araucanía's Region

The IXth Región or the Araucania´s Region is in the south part of Chile.
      The Araucanía's Region is one of the most beautiful regions in the south of Chile. It's the zone where they begin to appear the greater amount of lakes, volcanos, rivers and native woods. In the photo, we can see the Villarrica volcano, next to the lake of the same name. At the lake are Pucón and Villarrica towns, one of the mayor touristics attractions of the country. Here you can ski in winter, and practice all the water sport in the summer; from fishing to rafting..

Despite of the great touristic development of this area, specially the circuit Villarrica-Pucón-Caburgua-Licán Ray, there are many small, beautiful and inexplored lakes in the mountains; there are not hotels up there, even roads, but it is great for those who love the nature and the adventure. In the photo you can see the Hualalafquén lake, in Curarrehue county,   1.5 hours from Pucón.

The Villarrica volcano, with 2.800 ms height, is one of the most interesting places of this region. It´s skiing and tours center make of it an excelent choice for Winter and Summer. The Ski center has modern facilities,with suitable ferry cables and cabins, it has also defined roads to know the crater. In the photo, taken from the foot of the volcano, we can see the Villarrica Lake and the Pucón's Peninsula.


Next to Villarrica Lake there are the most importans hotels of the area, numerous summer houses to rent and places to explore. The photo shows the dawn at the lake. In the Pucón town the visitor can find a five stars hotel, a Casino, and many restaurants, pubs and places to dance.
